Privacy Policy.
The studio is small. The data we hold is small too. This page explains exactly what information passes through maisondethu.com when you visit, write us, or settle an invoice — and what we do with it.
If something here is not clear, write to studio@maisondethu.com and we will explain.
Who We Are
Maison de Thu, LLC is an Oregon limited liability company offering interior design, creative direction, and brand stewardship. We are the “controller” of personal information collected through this website — meaning we decide what is collected and what happens to it.
What We Collect
There are four moments at which we hold any information about you.
- You write us through the inquiry form. We hold your name, email address, the project type you selected, and the message you wrote — only what you typed into the form.
- You join the correspondence. We hold your name and email address so we can send the quarterly letter.
- You pay an invoice. Stripe processes the payment. We see the last four digits of your card or bank account, the brand, the amount, and your billing email. We do not store your full card number; Stripe does, under their security standards.
- You simply visit the site. Squarespace, which hosts the site, records standard server logs — IP address, browser, pages visited — and sets a small number of cookies to keep the site working. Squarespace may use this for aggregate analytics. We do not run advertising trackers, retargeting pixels, or third-party social-media trackers.
Why We Hold It
We use what you give us to do exactly what you asked us to do: reply to your inquiry, send you the correspondence you signed up for, or process the invoice you are settling. We use the site logs to keep the site working and to understand, in aggregate, how the site is being read.
We do not sell your information, share it with data brokers, or use it to train artificial-intelligence models. We do not run targeted advertising.
Who Else Touches It
A small set of vendors helps the studio run. Each holds information only to perform their service.
- Squarespace — hosts the site, stores form submissions if Squarespace forms are used, and provides basic analytics. Squarespace privacy policy.
- FormSubmit — relays inquiry and correspondence form submissions to our studio inbox. The form payload passes through their servers on the way to email. FormSubmit privacy notice.
- Stripe — processes payments and operates the customer portal at pay.maisondethu.com. Stripe privacy policy.
- Google Fonts — serves the typefaces (Cormorant Garamond, Inter) used on the site. Your browser requests the font files directly from Google. Google privacy policy.
- Email provider — the inbox at studio@maisondethu.com is hosted by our email provider, who holds the contents of correspondence with the studio under their security standards.
How Long We Keep It
Inquiry emails stay in the studio inbox as long as the conversation is active and for a reasonable period after. Correspondence subscribers remain on the list until they ask to be removed. Payment records and engagement-letter paperwork are retained for the period required by tax, accounting, and recordkeeping law — typically seven years. Server logs are kept by Squarespace under their standard retention.
Your Rights
Whether or not your state has a specific privacy law, the studio honors the same set of requests for everyone:
- Access. Ask what we hold about you; we will tell you in plain language.
- Correction. Ask us to fix something that is wrong.
- Deletion. Ask us to remove what we hold, subject to records we are required by law to keep.
- Portability. Ask for a copy of what you sent us.
- Opt out. Tell us to stop sending the correspondence, or to stop using your information for anything beyond honoring a contract you signed.
Residents of Oregon (under the Oregon Consumer Privacy Act), California (under the CCPA / CPRA), and other states with comparable laws have specifically enumerated versions of these rights, including a right to know what categories of personal information have been collected and a right not to be discriminated against for exercising privacy rights. The studio does not sell or share personal information for cross-context behavioral advertising.
To exercise any of these, write to studio@maisondethu.com. A reply will follow within the week.
Children
The studio does not knowingly collect information from anyone under the age of sixteen. The site is offered for adults engaging the studio for design work.
Security
We rely on the security practices of the vendors above — Squarespace, Stripe, FormSubmit, our email provider — and on common-sense controls inside the studio. No internet system is perfectly secure. If a breach were to occur, we would notify affected people in accordance with Oregon law.
International Visitors
The studio operates in the United States and our vendors process data in the United States. If you visit from outside the U.S., understand that your information will be transferred here.
Changes
This policy may be revised. The version posted on this page is the current one; the date below indicates when it was last revised. Material changes will be noted on the home page or by email to active subscribers.
